Enjoying Advent for Kids!

This resource includes lessons about Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and Christ as well fifty Advent activities that go along with these themes. It’s designed to help your family have a meaningful Advent season. It’s not meant to overwhelm, but merely provide ideas to help understand the Christmas story and build anticipation for celebrating Jesus’ birth.

The Gospel of Advent
This resource features articles and devotional questions by Christianity Today contributors and editors. It invites us to consider what the season of Advent can teach us about the Good News.

In Advent, we reflect on the mystery of the Incarnation, on Christ’s purpose as the long awaited Messiah, on our sin and need for repentance, on God’s promise of salvation and justice, and on our firm hope in Christ’s return and everlasting kingdom. We prepare to celebrate the ‘newborn King’ and we’re reminded again and again throughout Advent that the gospel is not just for us, but it is a message of ’great joy for all people’–it’s good news that is meant to be shared.

Summoning Advent Stillness – a season of contemplation and resistance. This resource is produced by Geez Magazine featuring many of their regular contributors. Turn off the lights. Light a candle. Open the pages.

We ground ourselves in the ancient subversive texts where a star, a child, two women, a handful of dreams, some poor shepherds, and a barn flip the imperial script in a time when systems of wealth, violence, and surveillance grasp for control. What then are the signs and stories in the corners of our own communities that offer hope that another world is coming? Let us ready our hearts to stake our lives on such narratives.
